Melodie Yong: "I'm Melodie Yong here at St. Paul's Hospital. We are here in the healthy heart program talking about strokes and how scary and life altering one can be. Judy Compardo knows this all too well."

Judy: "I was 29 years old and a triathlete. I ate well. I didn't smoke or drink. I was training for Iron man and I had a very massive headache and felt pretty nauseous, but I still went out for my 22-mile training run. Within 20 minutes I collapsed. I started slurring my words and I had tunnel vision."

Melodie: "Doctors discovered a clot in Judy's brain. She faced a long recovery and was told she would never have children. "

Judy: "It's been 11 years, and I now have two young boys, and I'm back to doing triathlons. I consider myself healthy. I continue to watch my sodium intake and I know the warning signs of a stroke."
